LEUKAEMIA RESEARCH FUND CHARITY

The Leukaemia Research Fund charity was established in 1960 by the parents of a young girl who had died at the Great Ormond Street Hospital.
They decided to raise funds to combat the disease which at that time was almost inevitably fatal.
The fund has since developed to become the only national charity solely devoted to researching the causes and treatment of Leukaemia, and the related blood cancers in children and adults.
In Britain alone over 17,000 people of all ages suffer from these life threatening diseases every year.
The fund's committment to improving treatments and finding cures is illustrated by its comprehensive research programme which extends nationally and internationally. This includes supporting vital research projects and 12 specialist LRF centres and units.
Patient care is another important aspect of the fund's work and is achieved through the LRF clinical training fellowship which are rewarded for the training and outstanding clincians & scientists in the specialists treatment of the diseases.
